Nyamirambo was the unexpected highlight. The local tea house, the conversation, the street food β€” our guide brought the neighbourhood to life. One of the best city tours I've ever done.

Kigali surprised me completely. I expected a modest African capital. Instead I found Singapore-level cleanliness, incredible art, and one of the friendliest cities on earth. Manoir showed me all of it.

Common Questions

Kigali Tour FAQ

Is Kigali safe for tourists?
+
Kigali is consistently ranked as one of the safest cities in Africa and globally. Petty crime is extremely low, police presence is high, and locals are very welcoming to visitors. Solo travelers, women, and families all report feeling safer in Kigali than in many Western European cities. Our guide accompanies you throughout for local knowledge and introductions.
How long does the tour take?
+
Our half-day tour is 4 hours and covers the key highlights including the Genocide Memorial. The full-day tour is 8 hours and includes all 8 stops, a traditional Rwandan lunch, and time to explore each location properly without rushing. We also offer custom tours where you choose the pace and stops.
Can I buy crafts and souvenirs on the tour?
+
Absolutely β€” Caplaki Craft Village and Kimironko Market are both built into the tour specifically for shopping. Our guide assists with price negotiation and can help you identify quality authentic pieces. Rwanda's Imigongo geometric paintings, hand-woven baskets, and wooden carvings make beautiful gifts and are unique to the region.
Is the tour suitable for children?
+
Most of the tour is very family-friendly. The Genocide Memorial contains difficult historical content β€” we suggest parents consider whether it is appropriate for their children (we do not recommend for under 12s for the exhibition, though the gardens are suitable for all ages). The market, arts centre, craft village and viewpoints are wonderful for all ages.
